JWTA High Tech Facility Experience

SELECTED PROJECTS

Chevron Oilfield Research Center, La Habra, California: Project management of all design, engineering, and construction services for the construction of a new 40,000 SF research facility. The scope of work included a computer center, seismic acoustics laboratory, photogrammetry and aerial mapping laboratory, production darkroom facilities, technical library, multimedia conference and meeting rooms and staff offices.

Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary, Mill Valley, California: Project management of all design, engineering, and construction services for the construction of a new 37,000 SF library and broadcasting training facility. The scope of work included a general reference library, Graduate studies library and archives. In addition the building included a fully function television studio and control facility to train students in the techniques of broadcasting and television production. As a part of the training facility, a special broadcasting laboratory was developed that gave the instructor the ability to monitor and instruct individual students in their own recording carrels. Each carrel had the equipment to record and playback both audio and video practice sessions.

NBC Studios Expansion, Burbank, California: Project management of all design, engineering, and construction services for the remodeling of an existing 20,000 SF commercial television broadcasting studio. The scope of work included expansion of the studio, control facilities, production shops, and support offices.

WBNS-TV Studio Expansion, Columbus, Ohio: Project Coordination of all design, engineering and quality control services for the remodeling of an existing 15,000 SF commercial television broadcasting studio. The scope of work included expansion of the studio, control facilities, and production shops.

WCPO-TV Studio Expansion, Cincinnati, Ohio: Project Coordination of all design, engineering and quality control services for the remodeling of an existing 10,000 SF commercial television broadcasting studio. The scope of work included expansion of the studio, news room equipment rooms and site improvements for mobile broadcasting equipment.

Hoyt Science Center, Westminster College, Edinboro, Pa.: Project Coordination of all design, engineering and quality control services for the 15000 SF expansion of an existing Chemistry and Physics laboratory and classroom facility. The scope of work included a new computer center, library, classrooms, and faculty offices with individual research laboratories.

Hoyt Science Center, Westminster College, Edinboro, Pa.: Designer for the construction of a new 30,000 SF Chemistry and Physics laboratory and classroom facility. The scope of work included lecture rooms, classrooms, graduate and undergraduate laboratories, and faculty offices with individual research laboratories.

Hiram College Biology Research Center, Hiram, Ohio: Project Coordination of the design, engineering and quality control services for the conversion of an existing 30,000 SF general classroom and lecture room building into a Biology laboratory with classrooms, and animal housing facility. The 80 year old building had historical value for the college campus so the exterior shell was restored to the original design of the campus architect. The age of the building also required a complete upgrade of all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.

Hooker Chemical Research Center, Niagara Falls, NY.: Project Coordination of the design, engineering and quality control services for the construction of a new 20,000 SF chemistry research laboratory. The scope of work included flexible modular laboratories capable of being converted to a variety of configurations dependent upon the research program. Each lab module included office and computer facilities for lead researchers and support staff. The facility also included conference and meeting spaces equipped for multimedia presentations.

Goodrich Aviation Flight Simulator Facilities, Akron, Ohio: Designer for a prototype 10,000 SF jet aircraft flight simulator building. The facility served as a test bed for a new generation of computer operated flight simulators being developed by the U.S. Navy. The facility included space for the flight simulators, simulator control room, computer equipment rooms, along with classroom and office support areas.

Westinghouse High Voltage Test Center, Waltz Mills, Pa.: Designer for a large scale test chamber used to test the performance of electrical components when subjected to lightning in a saltwater mist atmosphere. The scope of work included a four story lighting test chamber, control room, computer equipment room, offices, and a corporate conference center.

Ohio Brass Company Resistor Test Laboratory, Aurora, Ohio: Designer for a small scale test chamber used to test the performance of electrical components when subjected to lightning in a saltwater mist atmosphere. The scope of work included a two story lightning test chamber, test equipment fabrication shop, control room, computer equipment room, offices, and a corporate conference center.

Cleveland Institute of Music Library, Cleveland, Ohio: Designer for the library addition to the existing music school building. The original building was a modern interpretation of a classical greek structure, which was not readily modified. The approved project design incorporated an underground library which accomplished the expansion without disrupting the appearance of the original building. The underground solution also provided an energy conserving structure with large north oriented skylights for the most advantageous light for reading and study. The roof also served as a large outdoor plaza that became a popular campus meeting place.

Western Reserve Academy, Ellesworth Hall Renovation, Hudson, Ohio: Project Coordination of the design, engineering and quality control services for the renovation of a 100 year old 10,000 SF dormitory. The building, which was one of the original structures of the Western Reserve University, was listed as a historical building by the Western Reserve Historical Society. The scope of work included researching the original design and materials in order to attempt modern duplication where possible. The interior spaces were redesigned to meet current fire and building codes while providing apartment style living and study quarters.

Niagara Falls Aquarium, Niagara Falls N.Y.: Designer for the construction of a new 5,000 SF Aquatic Biology classroom and media center. The scope of work included lecture rooms, classrooms, and staff offices. All public spaces were equipped to utilize slide, motion picture, and video presentations.

Cox Communications PCS, LP - Switch Facilities, Burbank, Las Vegas, & Ontario, Ca. - Project Manager for the design and construction of three telephone switch facilities for the new Sprint PCS digital telephone system.
